.Silverweed or Five Finger has compounds called tannins that may have an astringent (drying) impact on the tissues and assist lessen inflammation of the skin. Silverweed tea is consumed by those who have diarrhea. Women take it for somewhat uncomfortable menstrual cycles and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). When there is soreness and swelling (inflammation) in the mouth and throat, silverweed is occasionally applied directly to the affected area.
