Description

Description:
Rosa canina, commonly known as rose hip, is a shrub native to Eurasia that grows up to 9 feet tall with arching stems covered in stout thorns. Its flowers range from pale pink to bright pink or white, and the plant produces bright red, oval or rounded fruits known as rose hips. These edible fruits are hairless, smooth, and contain numerous small seeds.

Rose hips have been used as a botanical ingredient for centuries and are prized for their tart, flavorful profile. They can be infused into a naturally aromatic tea, added to herbal blends, or used in culinary preparations.

Preparation Instructions – Decoction:
Decoctions are suitable for roots, barks, large seeds, berries, and other dense plant material:

  1. In a saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of dried rose hips to 1 cup of water.

  2. Bring the water to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 30–60 minutes.

  4. Strain and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.

  5. Enjoy your aromatic herbal infusion!

Optional:
Enhance flavor by sweetening with honey, natural fruit juice, stevia leaf powder, or licorice root powder.
