Description
The allspice tree is a diminutive, dioecious evergreen that is 7 to 12 meters tall with a thin trunk that is heavily branched at the ends. The bark is glossy, smooth, and pale silvery brown with sporadic, 25–70 cm long shading stripes. At the tips of branches, leaves are produced in clusters. They are simple, opposite, whole, thinly coriaceous, punctate with pellucid glands, and fragrant when crushed.
